More About Buena Vista Social Club

Imagine stepping into the warm embrace of a Havana evening, where the scent of Cuban cigars hangs in the air, and every street corner hums with anticipation. The Buena Vista Social Club musical is an exhilarating journey through the vibrant rhythms and deep cultural heritage of Havana. Set during an era when the lively beats of Afro-Cuban music were the heartbeat of the night, this Broadway production features live performances of the  iconic tracks from the Grammy® Award-winning album.

The show travels from the lively streets of Havana in the 1950s to the pivotal 1990s in the country’s history. It tells the story of four gifted musicians whose lives were dramatically altered during the rise of communist and Fidel Castro's ascent to power. Despite the upheavals of the Cuban Revolution, their passion for music never waned. The musical follows their journey, culminating in their groundbreaking album collaboration in 1997. The entire musical score is in Spanish, celebrating the rich musical styles of Son, Danzón, and Bolero. But there's no need to worry if your Spanish isn't perfect—the rhythms and melodies convey emotions far beyond words. This authentic musical homage to the original album offers a touching narrative of perseverance and cultural expression. Whether or not you're fluent in Spanish, the universal language of music in Buena Vista Social Club breaks down barriers, inviting everyone to honor the enduring legacy of these iconic musicians.
