The Broadway Collection News for the Week Ending July 20, 2012

Jeremy Kushnier will take over the role of Tommy DeVito in the Broadway cast of Jersey Boys, the Tony, Olivier and Grammy Award-winning smash hit musical, at the August Wilson Theatre on Tuesday, October 9, 2012. Andy Karl, who currently plays Tommy DeVito, will play his final performance on Sunday, October 7, 2012. Kushnier played the role of Tommy DeVito in Jersey Boys in Chicago, Las Vegas and Toronto. He most recently played James the Lesser in Jesus Christ Superstar on Broadway.

The classic musical Annie has teamed up with Pedigree to raise money for homeless dogs. At the heart of the partnership is the shared belief that every dog deserves a loving home, a principle central to the Pedigree Brand’s mission as well as the Broadway production of Annie. For each Annie the Musical ticket sold through December 31, 2013, Pedigree will donate $2, up to $1 million, to the Pedigree Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping dogs find loving homes. In addition, co-branded merchandise will be available at the theatre and online with 100 percent of the proceeds going to Pedigree Foundation.

The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) and The Dodgers, the producers of Matilda the Musical, have announced that the show will begin previews on March 4, 2013 and open on Thursday, April 11 at Broadway’s Shubert Theatre.
