The Broadway Collection News for the Week Ending August 9, 2012

The upcoming Broadway premiere of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella will open at the Broadway Theatre for previews beginning January 21, 2013 with an official opening date of February 21. This new musical will follow the classic Cinderella story while featuring many modern story lines and adding a contemporary twist.

Anthony Warlow received a Helpmann Award nomination for Best Male Actor in a Musical for his performance as Daddy Warbucks in the current acclaimed Australian tour of Annie. Warlow will make his Broadway debut as Daddy Warbucks in Annie the Musical, opening November 8 at the Palace Theatre. The Helpmann Awards are Australia’s major awards for live entertainment, and the winners will be announced September 24.

Diner will open on Broadway on April 10, 2013 at a Broadway theatre to be announced.

New York City’s dynamic STOMP OUT LITTER anti-litter public awareness campaign, which was launched six years ago, can again be seen throughout NYC. The video features performers from Stomp, and New York City visitors will be able to watch the PSA in cabs throughout the city. Robert Cuccioli has taken over the role of Green Goblin in Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. Cuccioli is best known for his performance in Jekyll and Hyde, for which he received a Tony Award nomination and won the Joseph Jefferson Award, the Outer Critics Circle Award, the Drama Desk Award, and the FANY Award.
