Barbra devotees out there will know that 1964’s Broadway musical Funny Girl was Streisand’s defining moment. And now, after 58 years, it has returned to the New York stage, this time with the witty Beanie Feldstein (of Lady Bird and Booksmart) in the lead role. You don’t have to know the ins and outs of the narrative — a fictionalised account of early 20th-century comedian Fanny Brice — to revel in the nostalgia.
