Last Week on Broadway: June 13 – June 20, 2012

Happy Monday everyone! In order to keep everyone updated with what is going on with our Broadway Collection shows, we are going to begin providing weekly updates here on the website. We hope that you enjoy them!

This week we will start with the 2012 Tony Awards. You can follow this link to our press release on our nominees and winners – (enter specific link here). Congratulations to The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess on Best Revival of a Musical and to Audra McDonald on Best Performance by an Actress in a Musical!

Unfortunately, some of our Broadway musicals will be closing this summer. This summer is your last chance to see these shows, so don’t miss your chance! -The following is an updated list and the date of their last performance:
– Priscilla Queen of the Desert played their last Broadway performance on June 24.
– Godspell closed on June 24, 2012.
– Anything Goes will play their last performance on August 5, 2012.
– Jesus Christ Superstar will be closing July 1, 2012.

WICKED the Musical has launched their second annual WICKED GAMES, a series of three Facebook games that aim to raise awareness for not-for-profit organizations. The WICKED GAMES take their inspiration from the musical’s storyline and its main characters’ desire to do “good.” The Games launched on Monday, June 11th and will continue to be played online until the closing ceremony on July 23rd. The partnering organizations are BullyBust, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, The Trevor Project, Broadway Green Alliance, V-Day, and Natural Resources Defense Council. Be sure to check out this fun Facebook game and each of these great causes!

BROADWAY BARES XXII: HAPPY ENDINGS, a fairytale evening of modern-day burlesque featuring 227 of New York’s sexiest dancers, made history for the third year in a row Sunday by raising a record-breaking $1,254,176 to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS! Congratulations to them!
