The New Musical Chaplin Opening on Broadway
The Broadway Collection is proud to announce the opening of Chaplin, a new musical depicting the life of film icon Charlie Chaplin. With music and lyrics by Christopher Curtis, book by three-time Tony Award-winner Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray) and Christopher Curtis, Chaplin will open on Broadway on Monday, September 10, 2012 at the Barrymore Theatre. Previews began Tuesday, August 21, 2012.
From the slums of London to the heights of Hollywood, Chaplin is the showbiz Broadway musical about silent film legend Charlie Chaplin. The brand new 22-person musical reveals the man behind the legend, the undeniable genius that forever changed American cinema.

Coming to America unknown, Charlie Chaplin became one of the most famous entertainers in the world. Chaplin tells the story of Charlie’s life – a life full of glamor, scandal and controversy before he was finally exiled from Hollywood. Chaplin goes behind the scenes and into Charlie’s life, showcasing his rise to fame and dramatic fall from the spotlight. Full of exciting dance and musical numbers, this new musical about the Little Tramp will enthuse all ages (children under 4 are not permitted).
Rob McClure, who originated the role of Chaplin at the La Jolla Playhouse in California, will star in the title role of the new Broadway musical Chaplin. The production will also feature Jim Borstelmann (Alf Reeves), Jenn Colella (Hedda Hopper), Erin Mackey (Oona O’Neill), Michael McCormick (Sennett, McGranery, Emcee), Christiane Noll (Hannah Chaplin), Zachary Unger (Young Charlie, Jackie) and Wayne Alan Wilcox (Sydney Chaplin).
