May is a month of celebration and remembrance in New York, and participation in city-wide events is bound to be a good time for the whole family.

On May 26th are the annual Memorial Day Parades! All across the 5 boroughs you can catch a parade to honor the veterans and fallen soldiers who have proudly fought for America in times of war. For more information about the parade in your area: http://www.nycgo.com/events/memorial-day-parade1

The New York Dance Parade is scheduled for May 17th, where 10,000 dancers from 150 groups showcase 75 styles of dance in a joyously multicultural, musical parade down Broadway. Tap-dance legend and Tony winner Savion Glover, Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, artistic director of African diaspora dance troupe Urban Bush Women, and remix master Hex Hector have been tapped to serve as grand marshals. The parade begins around 1pm on 21st street, down Union Square Park, down St. Marks Place and ending in Tompkins Square Park where the party continues with DanceFest, an afternoon of free dance performances, dance lessons and social dancing across four stages.
