Classic Musical The King & I Returns To Broadway Igniting Interest in Japan

New York, NY –Lincoln Center Theatre presents the new production of Rodger & Hammerstein’s The King & I at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. Featuring five-time Tony Award nominee Kelli O’Hara and Oscar nominated Ken Watanabe, the cast, Watanabe in particular, is attracting a great deal of interest internationally. Directed by Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher, choreographer Christopher Gattelli takes inspiration from the original choreography by Jerome Robbins in this world-recognized revival which will open April 16, 2015.

One of Rodger & Hammerstein’s finest works, The King & I boasts a score which features such beloved classics as “Getting To Know You”, “Hello Young Lovers”, ‘Shall We Dance”, “I Have Dreamed”, and “Something Wonderful”. Set in 1860s Bangkok, the musical features a cast of more than 50, and tells the story of the unconventional and tempestuous relationship that develops between the King of Siam and Anna Leonowens, a British schoolteacher, whom the imperious King brings to Siam to tutor his many wives and children.
