Stage Door Selfies Take Broadway Love to the Next Level

Taking pictures with celebrities goes back to the invention of the camera, but as smartphones and selfie-sticks become more ubiquitous, the method for the madness has become a bit different over the years. Broadway fans from all over the world now wait at stage doors—sometimes for hours—to meet their favorite stars and take a quick smartphone picture with the performer. But it can really pay off! Daniel Radcliffe, who has three Broadway credits under his belt (and will hopefully return for more soon) is famous for taking pictures with fans, as is Alan Cumming, late of Cabaret.

This season, fans have lots of opportunities for taking selfies with Broadway royalty. Multiple Tony-nominees Kelli O’Hara (currently starring in The King and I at Lincoln Center) has posed for many pictures at stage doors, as have Ramin Karimloo (who was nominated for Les Miserables last season, and will be leaving the show in August) and Max Von Essen (who just got his nod for his work in An American in Paris.) This season, Hollywood fans may get a chance to snap a quick pic with Clive Owen or Keira Knightley, who will both be in Roundabout Theater Shows soon.
