New Cast showcase how Hard it is to Be the Bard

Fresh faces sweep the stage of Something Rotten as big names such as Christian Borle, John Cariani and Heidi Blickenstaff depart this historically side stitching musical.

Reprising the role of the Rockstar Bard is Will Chase who has graced our screens on hit shows such as The Good Wife and Broadway inspired Smash. Will was nominated for a Tony for The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and has also appeared in other Broadway shows such as Rent, Aida, Miss Saigon, The Full Monty, Lennon, High Fidelity, Billy Elliot and more. Chase originally read for the role of Will Shakespeare before appearing as character Luke Wheeler for the three seasons on Nashville.

As one of the brothers trying to fulfill the soothsayer’s prophecy, Broadway alum Josh Grisetti, will take over the role of Nigel Bottom. Grisetti last appeared on Broadway in It Shoulda Been You and has also been in classics such as RentLeslie Kritzer joins rip-roarious cast after finishing her performance as Salome in The Robber Bridegroom. She will play the role of Bea, Nick Bottom’s wife.

From the director of Aladdin and the co-director of The Book of Mormon, Casey Nicholaw’s mash-up of 16th Century Shakespeare and 21st Century Broadway tells the story of brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom. These two playwrights are stuck in the domineering shadow of that Renaissance rockstar Will Shakespeare. After a soothsayer foretells the next big thing in theatre, the Bottom brothers set out to write the world’s very first MUSICAL!
