Chicago’s 20th Anniversary on Broadway

Chicago the musical in all its iconic “Razzle Dazzle” is officially celebrating its 20th anniversary on Broadway November 14, 2016. The show’s ongoing success can be attributed to the infamous tale of fame, fortune, and “all that jazz” that plays out on stage at the bloodied hands of seductive murderesses, Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly each night. In addition, the musical draws famous actors from around the world to take-on the coveted lead roles, bringing along their domestic and international followings to the cushioned seats of Broadway’s Ambassador Theater. Chicago’s “Celebrity Cell Block” has featured American legends such as Patrick Swayze and Brooke Shields, German actress Uta Lemper, Mexican stage star Bianca Marroquin, R+B crooners Brian McKnight and Usher, songstress Brandy Norwood and countless additional, internationally acclaimed artists. In 2002, the film version further bolstered the story’s now iconic place in American pop-culture, starring Hollywood icons Richard Gere, Katherine Zeta Jones, and Renée Zellweger. In 2016, a new generation is welcomed to see the show on Broadway, as Veronica Dunne of Disney Channel’s K.C. Undercover takes to the stage each night as Velma Kelly herself. Happy Anniversary Chicago, a toast to your ongoing reign as the longest-running American musical!
