Broadway for Visitors: Mandy Patinkin to Join The Great Comet

Broadway Inbound

In a casting announcement that is equal parts unexpected and delightful, Broadway's The Great Comet is getting a new Pierre. Mandy Patinkin, the Tony-winning national treasure famous for his roles in Sunday in the Park with George and Evita, has not been in a Broadway musical since his Tony-nominated turn in the 2000 production of The Wild Party. Since then, he's found success on television in Dead Like Me, Criminal Minds, and his Emmy-nominated performance as Saul Berenson in Homeland.

Patinkin will step into the role of Pierre for a limited run from August 15 - September 3. Hamilton's Okieriete "Oak" Onaodowan, who is currently playing Pierre, will play his last performance on August 13. Ingrid Michaelson, the singer-songwriter behind "Girls Chase Boys" and "The Way I Am" plays Sonya in the production until August 13.
