Get ready to be charmed by Maybe Happy Ending, where you'll find a delightful blend of the ordinary and extraordinary. This captivating show takes a playful look at an unexpected friendship developing in the digital age, even among robots. It dives into heartfelt themes like connection, self-discovery, and life's surprise twists, all wrapped up in a whimsical package.
The inspiration for this show emerged in 2014 when lyricist Hue Park was in a Brooklyn coffee shop, where a song, "Everyday Robots" by Damon Albarn, played in the background. The line "We are everyday robots in the process of getting home" resonated with Park, sparking a vision of robots with human characteristics and emotions, living lonely lives after being abandoned. This led to the creation of a critically acclaimed show that first premiered in Seoul in 2016. Now, that original concept has blossomed into the Broadway production of Maybe Happy Ending, opening at the Belasco Theatre on November 12, 2024, under the direction of Michael Arden.
Winner of the 2025 Best Musical Tony Award, Maybe Happy Ending promises to leave you inspired with its uplifting tale of what it means to be human.
